Customer Service Advisor

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team at Ladbrokes. Your role will be to help sustain the front-line service to customers that will enhance Ladbrokes' position as the UK’s biggest bookmaker. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service and sport.

This role will require you initially to act as the first point of contact with our customers. You will be responsible for meeting, greeting and providing them with an exceptional level of service. You will be on hand to help by answering questions, demonstrating new machine products and taking bets.

    What is your favourite part of the job?

    My favourite part of the job has to be the atmosphere with your friendly customers. I enjoy engaging in conversations about recent and upcoming events and having joke rivals with the regulars about supporting opposite teams etc.

    What can be challenging about your role?

    Sometimes we have to deal with customer disputes. We ensure we resolve these issues to the best of the ability but sometimes you can be faced with challenging situations.

    Your favourite moment whilst working at Ladbrokes?

    My most memorable moment at Ladbrokes was working Grand National Day because it was a really fun experience due to the energetic and exciting atmosphere amongst the staff and customers with the build up to and watching the big race.

    Describe your journey so far with Ladbrokes?

    My journey so far has been so rewarding. I have worked hard for the company and I am now progressing to a higher role.

    Why do you think you have been successful?

    This year I have been a ‘shining star’ of Ladbrokes. This allowed me to travel to shops all around the area to open online accounts; this also gave me a massive opportunity to earn retail incentives.

    What do you like most about Ladbrokes?

    Ladbrokes are so flexible for me, which is why I love my job. I can study and revise on the days that I need to and get overtime during holidays. Performance related bonus schemes are also a great opportunity to earn more money as I only work part time.

    I've been with Ladbrokes since January 2015 and I've enjoyed every minute of it, from working in my Base shop to travelling through the country to work in various racecourses and also the various workshops you get to attend.

Customer Service Apprenticeship

We’re looking for customer service apprentices to join us for a 12-month, fully supported development programme. This is a brand new programme where you’ll be involved in both on and off the job training and development activities. We’ll give you all the support you need to gain an NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service – as well as a management position in one of our shops.

    I have learnt so much in my first year as an apprentice here at Ladbrokes. I’ve had the opportunity to gain a customer service qualification to help me develop further in my career and also looks great on my CV.

    What skills have you gained from working at Ladbrokes?

    During my apprenticeship my communication skills have established increasingly. Working in the store and dealing with all types of customers has given me the ability to manage different types of situation and deal with them in the best way possible to provide seamless customer service.

    My favourite moment since working at Ladbrokes so far was the day I passed my CSM training, completing my apprenticeship.

    Describe your career journey so far with Ladbrokes?

    I started as an apprentice. During the time I was studying as a customer service manager. After a quick 6 month later I became a customer service manager and end of the year I completed my NVQ Level 2 with a great and helpful teacher.

    How has Ladbrokes helped you in your career development?

    As well as a range of training courses and skills sessions, I have accessed to a vast number of other development opportunities. ladbrokes supports you every step of the way. They make sure I gain the skills I need through an agreed development plan that’s tailored to my career ambitions.

    Ladbrokes apprenticeship is a well organised program for people who want to learn and earn at the same time. So it’s best for improving your skills and building aa career with a strong, useful experience in the customer service industry.

    What do you like most about Ladbrokes?

    Ladbrokes career progression is great and there is always opportunity for training and development. Working with great colleagues and customers. And last but not least, I can watch sports and I get paid for it.

Customer Service Manager

You will be responsible along with the Shop / Marketplace Manager for generating and implementing local action plans on how to attract and retain new and existing customers for shop and marketplace. You will also need to ensure the shop team and your own knowledge on new games and betting products are up to date and that games can be demonstrated to customers and bets and / or promotions can be explained.

    Describe your career journey so far with Ladbrokes?

    My career journey at Ladbrokes began when I was presented with the opportunity to join as a Customer Service Advisor, from which I progressed into a Customer Service Manager due to the great training from my Marketplace Manager Pamela Gayle. Acquiring great training enhanced my capability in a broad aspect, fuelling my development to propelling to the next stage of the career ladder.

    How has Ladbrokes helped you in your career development?

    Ladbrokes has helped me in a number of ways within my career development; it has enabled me to think and acting professionally. It’s helped strengthen some vital industry skills such as strategy, planning for success, servicing positive assertiveness, understanding my roles as a manager as a result incorporating leadership traits.

    Favourite sporting moment and why?

    The Olympics would be one of my favorite sporting moments due to the fact that all manner of people from all walks of life regardless of age, gender or nationality take part and take interest, whiles subsequently inviting new customers to our doors.

    Started as cashier in 2007, was promoted to trainee manager the following year. Was deputy manager for a while and now in CSM for last few years.

Marketplace Manager

As a marketplace manager, your role will be to help manage and sustain the front-line service to customers that will enhance Ladbrokes' position as the UK’s biggest bookmaker. You will be expected to manage a number of shops overseeing all costs, revenue targets, customer generation and compliance relating to your shop. You will be on hand to lead all new products and promotions, deal with any customer or team issues and ensure that the shop environment is inspiring to both your customer and your team.

    Describe your career journey so far with Ladbrokes?

    I started off as a trainee cashier and then became a deputy manager, I then became a Customer Service Manager and then in May 2016 I took up the position of MPM.

    What do you like most about Ladbrokes?

    The people, the staff and the customers. I find staff can be very obliging when they shown respect and it’s the same with the customers.

    What skills have you gained from working at Ladbrokes?

    I have learned to manage people in any situation, including difficult ones. This is a skill that takes patience and can turn a situation into an opportunity to make a customer for life.

  • Dave Shotton - Marketplace Manager

    What was your background before joining Ladbrokes?

    I was a bar supervisor working in a nightclub called ‘Coyote Wild!’. Yes, I had to wear chaps and dance on the bar.

    What can be challenging about your role?

    There are issues to tackle as like any job in retail, things do go wrong from time to time and sometimes may be the first time I’ve come across the issue. I see these as learning curves and it helps to build my knowledge with the experience I take from it.

    Favourite sporting moment and why?

    It would have to be Westmead Hawk winning his second Greyhound Derby at Wimbledon in 2006, purely for my passion in Greyhound racing and certainly a final to bring a tear to the eye as his semi-final last to first performance was exceptional. To quote Darrell Williams "eHe's an icon, he's fantastic, he's superlative, he is Westmead Hawk."e Amazing moment in Greyhound history.

Field Management

Our field management team provide direction and support to the retail staff ensuring the delivery of the business plan and local retailing strategy while ensuring full compliance in all aspects of human resource and people management and regulatory matter. As a field manager, your key accountabilities include customer focus, business competitiveness, building relationships, coaching and development and managing performance. You would also directly manage all elements of the business in your area, including customer acquisition, growth, margin control, cost control and efficiency.

    In my first year of becoming Regional Manager, I was nominated for Region of the Year - I didn't win, but what made the evening was the winners from my Region - we bagged, Apprentice of the Year, CSM of the Year, Area Manager of the Year and Marketplace Team of the Year!

    What is a typical day like for you?

    Dealing with all operational aspects of 49 shops across the South West. Whether or not I’m holding a formal meeting, or visiting a shop to catch colleagues doing it right, meeting with an MPM to discuss how we can improve business in a particular store, my job is all about people and managing standards through my Marketplace team.

    What do you enjoy most about working at Ladbrokes?

    Watching people grow within their job roles and seeing them develop and build confidence.

    Favourite sporting moment and why?

    Detorri Day – 7 Winners. I love winning and to see Frankie romp home with seven winners will always stick in my mind.

    I have always had a brilliant team of people around me from my Shop Manager to Area Manager, I have always had support from those around me. I am also an ambitious person and really strive to achieve where I can.

    What skills have you gained from working at Ladbrokes?

    There are so many skills I have learnt over the past 7 years it is difficult to narrow down the key skills that have aided me on my journey. People management, I believe is one of the most difficult skills to learn, Ladbrokes has helped me know how to adapt in different situations and when dealing with different people.
